Q. How do Series 519 – Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Devices reduce Harmonic distortion?

A. All Series 519 - Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Devices represent a technological break-thru in the Power Quality industry. Performance levels can be achieved cost-effectively that simply put, have been unattainable in the past. All Series 519 - Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Devices are configured with a filter to attenuate current harmonic distortion, The standard configuration is tuned to pass the fundamental 60hz current. However the 5th, 7th, 9th and higher order odd harmonics occur at frequencies that our Series 519 – Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Devices is designed to cancel out.

Q. What about the third harmonic, does a Series 519 – Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Device remove the 3rd harmonic?

A. Series 519 – Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Devices are designed to be flexible. Many models are manufactured in configurations that incorporate unique transformers. When configured this way, Series 519 - Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Devices removes nearly all of the 3rd harmonic. In tandem with our harmonic filter, which picks up where the transformer leaves off, this results a combined level of performance that reduces voltage surges and, noise. Total Harmonic Distortion is reduced to less than 49%. This combined level of performance is unsurpassed in the Power Quality industry.

Q. What other benefits are derived from the Series 519 – Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Device?

A. Certain configurations of the Series 519 – Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Devices can be configured to provide voltage transformation. United mounted receptacles may be specified for most commercial or industrial point of use requirements.

Configurations that include a transformer are specifically designed to provide a low impedance output. This helps to insure that if a Series 519 - Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Device supplies power to multiple branch circuits, that the impedance of the ground and neutral conductor comply with IEEE Standard 1100, Powering and Grounding Sensitive Electronic Equipment. Supplying power to your equipment from a Series 519 - Hybrid TVSS/Harmonic Cancellation Device will insure that ground loops are a thing of the past. Our design insures that all loads on the output are at equal ground potential.

In addition, certain configurations of the Series 519 are designed to operate as a separately derived source. This insures that a new computer grade ground can be furnished to sensitive equipment. A zero volt ground reference helps to improve operational reliability of all microprocessor controlled devices.

Q. Which products of yours have the Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™) filter? What does Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™) do? Is it just a filter built into a normal Surge Protective Device (SPD) that filters out high frequency noise on the sine wave?

A. All models beginning with a “ST” on the model number are all true Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™) models. Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™) is available on all Pure Power Products, Incorporatedฎ models. The term true Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™) simply means that the Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™) unit will attenuate a ringing type transient, as identified by IEEE, to nearly identical Let-Thru Voltage levels, if the transient is inserted is inserted at the 180, 270 or any other phase angle, when tested with 6" of lead length. This performance has been confirmed in independant tests, regardless of the phase angle that the transient is applied. The Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™) components act as a filter and suppress the ring wave transient. The active circuitry of the Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™) unit will also attenuate undesired electrical disturbances such as EMI and RFI. The end result is that the protected equipment will see a cleaner sine wave. The Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™) unit will still clamp impulse wave transients.

Best Quality Power, Inc. FC Series products do not have Sinewave Phase Angle Tracking (S.P.A.T. ™). They are used for applications (i.e. main entrance panels, etc.) where it is not required or recommended.
